Scottish Rite Biography:

Brother Moore was initiated September 27, passed October 27, and raised to the Degrees of Master Mason November 22, 1873, in Rockford (Coosa County, Alabama) Lodge No. 137. After receiving the Degrees of the Scottish Rite in 1880, he was elected Venerable Master of Alabama Lodge of Perfection, No. 1, Montgomery, and subsequently was appointed by Grand Commander Albert Pike as Deputy of the Supreme Council for Alabama.

Brother Moore was nominated as an Active Member of the Supreme Council by Grand Commander Albert Pike, who came from Washington to Montgomery, accompanied by Secretary General W. M. Ireland, to confer the Degree upon him. This he declined on account of the fact that one of the Brethren who had served as Deputy expected to receive that honor. He then received the Thirty-third Degree, Honorary.
– On October 16, 1888, his election to Active Membership having been renewed, he was crowned by General Pike in Washington, D.C., Sovereign Grand Inspector General in Alabama and an Active Member of the Supreme Council.

Illustrious Moore held an appointive office in the Supreme Council, and was successively elected Grand Minister of State, Grand Chancellor, Grand Prior, and Lieutenant Grand Commander. On October 7, 1914, he was elected Sovereign Grand Commander of the Supreme Council of the Thirty-third Degree, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction of the United States.
